War Thunder: BFM Tutorial, The High Yo Yo
We look at the Basic Fighter Maneuver (BFM) the High Yo Yo. This is a great trick to use when you are quickly coming up to a slow moving aerial target. Rather than scrub off energy trying to maneuver with the target in the horizontal plane, pull the aircraft into the vertical and translate your speed into potential energy. Energy management is what Air Combat is all about and the Yo-Yo is an awesome way to maintain it. In the vid, I use my Nakajima KI 43 II to bring down an unsuspecting, slow moving Spitfire I. There are a lot of bandits around me and I cannot afford to bank with the Spit as it would slow me down and get me hit from his wingman. I keep my energy up using the Yo Yo and I rather easily dispatch the threat. A really good explanation of this air combat tactic on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_fighter_maneuvers#High_Yo-Yo
