Made by etherealqueen By now, it's a well-known fact among videogame enthusiasts that Aerith dies. That being said, at the time it was such a twist that no-one saw it coming. I can't remember if I've mentioned it before, but one person online claimed they put a katana through their TV set. It's just the sort of story that sticks with you. It subverted so many unstated beliefs about RPGs. RPGs usually have characters that play specific roles, and thus, are invaluable in their own special way. Aerith was the only pure mage/healer in the game. If there was anyone who should have been immune to ganking, it was her. (I suppose we should have been wary about how the game's materia system lets characters be customized almost entirely.)
